Go to the Video – Advanced options and set them like this:
- Model Detail: High
- Texture Detail: High
- Shader Detail: Low
- Water Detail: Simple Reflections
- Shadow Detail: Low
- Color Correction: Disabled
- Antialiasing mode: 2x MSAA
- Filtering mode: Bilinear
- Wait for vertical sync: Disabled
- Motion Blur: Disabled
- Field of view: 75 (min)
- Multicore Rendering: Enabled
- High Dynamic Range None
- Use bloom effect when available: No
Gmod FPS Boost & Best Settings – Config (autoexec.cfg)
Go to the Garry’s Mod Folder, then to cfg, find the autoexec.cfg and open it with Notepad++. If you don’t find the file, create it (autoexec.cfg) with notepad++
Once opened with notepad type or copy & paste the following commands:
- sv_cheats 1
- r_lod 8
- mat_dxlevel 70
- mat_picmip 4
- mat_showlowresimage 1
Close the autoexec.cfg file and save
To load these graphics options when you are playing, open the console and type exec autoexec.cfg.

Gmod FPS Boost & Best Settings – DirectX
Depending on your PC quality there are better DirectX options:
- Low End Pcs (Low graphics): The best choice would be DirectX 70 (cmd – mat_dxlevel 70)
- Standard Pcs (Medium graphics): The best choice would be DirectX 80 (cmd – mat_dxlevel 80) or DirectX 81 (cmd – mat_dxlevel 81)
- Best Pcs (Nice graphics): The best choice would be DirectX 90 (cmd – mat_dxlevel 90) or DirectX 95 (cmd – mat_dxlevel 95)

Have you ever checked the System Requirements (Minimum and Recommended), because you should
Graphics Card Settings for Garry’s mod
- Update your graphics card drivers
- Max Performance: go to 3d settings – Adjust Image settings and there choose max performance
- Antialiasing: Off
- Texture Filtering: High Performance
Computer Settings for Garry’s mod
- Windows Performance: Properties > Advanced Settings > Performance, once there uncheck all.
- Disable Core Parking: Win + R simultaneously > type msconfig > Boot > Advanced Options, once there: max number of processors
- Disable Startup Programs:Win + R simultaneously > type msconfig > Startup tab > once there uncheck what you dont need
- Power Options: Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options, once there: High Performance
Monitor Settings for Garry’s mod
Just if everything else does not work, change your screen resolution depending on the monitor you have:
- 1920×1080 = (1280×720)
- 1600×900 = (1280×720)
- 1366×768 = (800×600)
- 1024×768 = (640×480)
- 640×480 = (320×210)
